One green notebook. Six strangers. The chance to start being honest...
Six strangers with one universal thing in common: their lives aren’t always what they make them out to be.
But what would happen if they told the truth instead?
Desperate to confess the deep loneliness he feels, Julian begins The Authenticity Project – a small green notebook containing the truth about his life – to pass on and encourage others to share their own.
Leaving it on a table in Monica’s café, a warm, friendly place where Julian escapes at his most lonely moments, he never expects Monica to find it and track him down. Or that his small act of honesty will impact all those who come into contact with the book, and lead to a life-changing world of friendship and forgiveness…
Oh my god, this book! A part of me is kicking myself for waiting so long to read it and the other part is sad that I have read it and can’t read it again for the first time. This has sky rocketed to the top of one of my top reads for 2021!
The Authenticity Project is the beautiful story that shows the power of friendship and being true to yourself. To say I loved this book and couldn’t put it down is an understatement. In my 2 hour flight from Stockholm to Paris I read half of it
This book gave me serious ‘The Holiday’ & ‘Notting Hill’ vibes. It centres around lost souls finding each other and it has a lovely air of optimism and possibility. Similar to these movies, there are moments where you are crying laughing and then suddenly holding back sad tears and I just love a book that can invoke that level of emotion. Honestly, I would love to see this made into a movie!
The characters are fantastic and despite there being quite a number of them, they are so distinctive and each have such a strong role to play in the story that you never have to remind yourself who they are. And the writing is very welcoming and easy and the wit and tone of voice is superb. Pooley captures the voices of each of the characters so well and I could honestly picture each of them and how they would talk and act so well.
Look, just read this book. It will put you in the best mood and make you smile. Whether you are tanning on the beach or wrapped up with a hot chocolate on the couch, this is a read for every season and every reader.
IN 3 WORDS/PHRASES:
'You have such energy. You're like the sun. When you're interested in someone, you turn your rays towards them and they luxuriate in your warmth. But then you turn somewhere else, leaving them in the shadow, and they spend all their energy trying to recreate the memory of your light.'
I can't choose one, I loved them all!
