A heart to protect. A debt to repay. A game to win.

After being swept up in the magical world of Caraval, Donatella Dragna has finally escaped her father and saved her sister Scarlett from a disastrous arranged marriage. The girls should be celebrating, but Tella isn’t yet free. She made a desperate bargain with a mysterious criminal, and what Tella owes him no one has ever been able to deliver: Caraval Master Legend’s true name.

The only chance of uncovering Legend’s identity is to win Caraval, so Tella throws herself into the legendary competition once more—and into the path of the murderous heir to the throne, a doomed love story, and a web of secrets…including her sister's. Caraval has always demanded bravery, cunning, and sacrifice. But now the game is asking for more. If Tella can’t fulfill her bargain and deliver Legend’s name, she’ll lose everything she cares about—maybe even her life. But if she wins, Legend and Caraval will be destroyed forever.

Welcome, welcome to Caraval...the games have only just begun.

It took me a while to finally get around to reading the second instalment of the Caraval Series but I was so excited to dive back into this magical world! ⁣⁣⁣

Legendary is a great follow on from Caraval where we find ourselves immersed even further into the magical and enigmatic world of Legend. Caraval (Book 1) left us on a bit of a cliffhanger and I could tell the next book would focus more on Tella, which I was looking forward to because I really liked her in the first book.

I loved how the book started directly the next day after the first book ended. You can instantly tell that the story will be tense, surprising and full of adventure. Tella is a super strong protagonist and was very different from Scarlett which was great. I was worried it might be hard to differentiate the two but not at all. I also loved how we got to learn about a very ancient form of magic and we get a deeper glimpse into this mysterious world that Garber has created. ⁣

I did sometimes found the pace a little slow and you would go through 1 or 2 chapters where not a lot happened or it was a little repetitive. It definitely added to the suspense which I’m sure was the aim but sometimes I just wanted to jump to the next chapter. However, I think it was a great middle book to build up from the first one and paint the scene for what I am sure will be an epic finale (see what I did there? 😉). ⁣

All in all, I really enjoyed it can’t wait to read the final book of the trilogy. For those who love fantasy, want to get into fantasy or want to get back into fantasy, this is a fantastic trilogy to do that with! ⁣

FAVOURITE QUOTE: 'Not everyone gets a true ending. There are two types of endings because most people give up at the part of the story where things are the worst, where the situation feels hopeless. But that’s when hope is needed most. only those who persevere can find their true ending'.

FAVOURITE CHARACTER: Dante, I really liked that we got to know him more and I can't wait to find out more about him in the final book.
